Desk View does not populate

Issue:
 Desk View either does not open or opens and does not populate. An error may appear that says "The expression On Open you entered as the event property setting produced the following error: Object or class does not support the set of events." In some cases, no error appears.
Cause:
 A Windows security update (2597112) removed the registration of an important component of Carmen. For more information regarding this, see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2664258
Resolution:
 Use this method only if the solution offered by "Deskview does not open" does not fix the problem.


1. Exit Carmen

2. Using Regedit, delete this registry key:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{831FDD16-0C5C-11D2-A9FC-0000F8754DA1}

3. Then run (in the system command window):

In 32-bit systems:
regsvr32 %windir%\system32\mscomctl.ocx

In 64-bit systems:
regsvr32 %windir%\syswow64\mscomctl.ocx

4. Then reboot your computer and start Carmen.
